I Want/Need Fall

I'm that girl (you know) that needs immediate gratification when it comes to season changing. All of these 32 degree mornings and 70 degree afternoons aren't really working for me. One reason I need fall is the beauty that God brings to death. Leaves die, fall off of their respective trees and create a wonderland of warm splendor for us to breathe in. I love fall. The end.

Disclaimer: these photos were taken in the fall of 2009. no Ohio is not magical in producing early fall beauty, although I'm open to it:).

Holy Short: A World Without Modesty

Homecoming is just around the corner in my little town. As of today at 12:00, I was without a dress.

After church, Mim and I decided that we had enough time to search for a dress. Little did we know that all of the dresses available were hemmed at a foot above the knee! Wowza!

Going to homecoming while trying to be modest proved to be a huge challenge today. I wasn't going to settle for anything less than knee length, knowing what kind of thoughts a short dress provokes in a man. Why would we want our counterparts to suffer?

Ladies, let's leave a LOT to the imagination of men around us. Save it for your hubby one day:

I love this quote! It speaks so much truth into my heart about what I want to be for my husband one day: pure and holy.

Modesty starts in the heart NOT the mind. I pray to God to give me a desire to be modest. He will be the only one who can start from your heart out, and that makes all the difference.

Peace out, girl scouts!

influenced: the good kind

As a senior, we are required to take a  compostition class. Our second assignment for the year was to write our collge essays for applications. Neither of the colleges that I'm applying to require an essay, therefore I had to choose a Common Application promt...Here it is, format and all, honoring Miss Jennie Warner over at Homestead Living...

The Most Influential People

Bridget Berger

Dirty diapers, screaming kids, baby food, and no sleep is just what I imagine when I envision my future. Not everyone can understand this life-style. These people are the few who are adorned with a special job title: Mother.

I’ve always entertained the thought of being a stay-at-home-mom, but it wasn’t until I met Jennie that I really embraced this dream. A mother of six beautiful children, Jennie lives, breathes, and loves motherhood. While she was pregnant with her sixth child, Madeline, I was roped into a shopping trip to Old Navy. I had never spent much time with Jennie prior to spending the afternoon with her and her five kids. This excursion was an eye opener for my future life. I hadn’t wanted a huge family before meeting Jennie and her husband Jeff; my desires have changed for the larger. The trip went on, maternity jeans were purchased, and a life-long friendship was formed.

Jennie has inspired me to not only be stronger Christian but to have a passion to prepare for marriage and motherhood. Her influences in my life have made me a better human being and servant for the Lord. She has opened my eyes to the world of Homeschooling, garage-saling, and much more. For that, I am forever grateful. Jennie has become one of the most influential people in my life and in turn, has become my best friend; not many people get to have this adventure in life. I’m so glad I got to spend it with her. Because of Jennie, I have become a valuable, stronger, more passionate person.

*** I don't even like to think of where my heart would be without you Jenn! ***

The Catch-up Post

Hello all! You've missed a lot in the past month or so. Allow me to fill you in...

Family camp/ Youth camp 2012 was amazing! Chad Seabright (enkindleministries.com) was the youth camp speaker this year and spoke on the topic of being an overcomer.

"They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death." Revelation 12:11

He taught us not to dwell on negative thoughts or thoughts from the enemy, but to instead cast them down. If we dwell on positive thoughts and thoughts from Christ, it will only improve the lives we are trying to live FOR Christ. He also taught us about the spiritual blessings we have recieved through Christ if He is our Lord and Saviour.

We are blessed, redeemed, holy, blameless, adopted, loved, forgiven, and chosen by God through Christ (Ephesians 1:3-7 paraphrased). We did not have an altar call on this particular day. Our altar was at the bowling alley that afternoon. If we bowled a gutter ball we were to shout at the top of our lungs, "I am forgiven!". Strikes? "I am redeemed!". 7/10 split? "I am holy!". Front pin hit? "I am chosen!". It was such an awesome way to publicly declare what our God has done for us.

During camp every year is my parents wedding anniversary. Dad chose to celebrate this year on their 25th, by surprising Mom with a renewing of vows in front of the whole camp! So romantic!

Renew Camp 2012 was spent watching six little Warner children. Which turned out to be about three at a time all week because they were dropping like flies due to strep.

Right after Renew, we had family from California and Tennesee at our house. I love my cousins:)
Sara and I are only a month and seven days apart (we even have a song about it).

I also took my cousin Alisha's son's 4 year old pictures. Blaine is an absolute doll baby and its hard to pick just one but here it is:

I'm now, along with my parents, on a gluten free diet and have a ton of brands, recipes, and no-no's that I could pass along to you if you are in need. If you have any questions about gluten and why going off of it makes you lose weight, I'd be more than willing to help :).

Tomorow is my last first day of High School. Bittersweet is how I describe it. Jennie and I have been working all summer on my Senior pictures, attempting to get some in every season. Here is a small sample:

We've been playing around with colors a lot while editing, let me know what you think.

If that post wasnt random enough for you, I don't know what will be.

Peace out, girl scouts:).

dying to self; rising with Christ

This Sunday was our church baptism and picnic. And was it full. 365 people showed up. 365 (!!!).

And most importantly 21 people were baptized! It was an awesome day for God's glory!

{Pastor Rob, Bennet(B-schnizzle), and Cory (Bennet's dad)}

Baptism by emersion is a symbol of dying to your old self (ways) when you go under water and then rising with Christ when you come out. It is an amazing expirience. I was baptized a few years ago myself.

So proud of everyone who was baptized on Sunday!

"May the Lord bless you and keep you. May He make His face shine on you and give you His peace. And may you always love Jesus first above all else. Amen."  Numbers 24-26

"Paul said, 'John's baptism was a baptism of repentance. He told the people to believe in the one coming after him, that is, in Jesus."
Acts 19:4

Christmas in July???

Here's the deal. On Christmas Eve at Granny's house, we started a new tradition similar to our Easter egg dying tradition. We made four gingerbread houses (we being the grandkids). I need a vote to see which one you think looks the best.

***I meant to do this in December, but let's be real, when do I remeber to blog?***

House #1: Built by Josh, Mike, and Andrew. Adorned with, yes, a meatball, fork, spoon, and filled with M & Ms I believe.

House #2: Built by Kelsey, Zoey, and Myself. We have a nice peppermint chimney and railing (for that slippery foil), and two marshmellow trees.

House #3: Built by Paige, Danielle, and Kimi. There is a zigzag M&M roof and a nice red hot pathway to the house.

House #4: Sorry about the wonky picture. This house was built by Liz, Payton, and Jackson. They have some icicles and a marshmellow snowman in the front yard.

It's all up to you now! Don't be afraid to comment(bloggers actually encourage that). Just comment with the house number that you like, and eventually(if I remember) I will tally them up and see who the winner is!

Ready, Set, Go!
